intake question
i have a 91 s10 blazer with a 4.3 and my intake has the pipe to the front grille and i was wondering if i take the pipe off and put the k&n fipk on will it make the truck run hot. my dad says it will but im not sure. would it be better just to put a k&n filter in and leave the intake tube in it

RE: intake question
The K&N FIPK has a heat shield that does a pretty good job of sealing off the filter from the engine heat. Even if it didn't come with a heat shield, it wouldn't make your truck run hot, just wouldn't have as much power as it would with the stock filter and intake tubing due to the hot intake charge.

RE: intake question
I installed a K&N FIPK about a month ago, the heat shield does pretty well, includes the rubber seal at the hood. I have been getting great gas mileage since... I averaged 20.3 last tank, about half city, half highway, 315 miles and had 2.5 gallons left. I am interested to see what I get this weekend during my highway driving to Virginia.

RE: intake question
what about using the circular high flow filter from eldlebrock that gets rid of the pipe?

RE: intake question
thats what the k&n one is that im looking at. but i was wondering if it would get hot without the tube on there. and if it had performance gains
