Still have questions on flowmasters...
#1
I have been looking on the site here and on youtube to try and find my answer, but to no avail. (Youtube does no justice to any of the videos...) I am posting another thread to see if it can be answered...so here it is...
I was wondering how loud super 44's and 50 series mufflers are, but I don't mean answers like, "Yeah, its loud," or "Its loud, but not too loud," sort of thing. How loud are they in comparison to other things...and preferably not to other mufflers because I have not been around very many piped vehicles. (I know I lead a sheltered life...) And I apologize if I am asking too much from my fellow users on this one, but it is a question that I can't seem to get answered, and this is my last ray of hope before I just say screw it and go put a muffler on and see what happens. Any help it appreciated, thanks!

Its all bout personal preference I think. I went with the Original 40 Series Flowmasters. Nice rumble at idle and smooth sound at cruising speed around 2000rpm. I tried using clamps and not such a good deal so I need to visit my local muffler shop to have them weld it up. I also cut my cat that had a terrible rattle and I think was clogged. Im also running a Spectre CAI (what goes in will surely come out). Motor seems to really breathe better with little restriction in airflow in & out

I imagine this is the most precise answer you will get:
I measured the sound of my Flowmaster Delta 50 at 1,000 RPM at the tailpipe with a sound pressure level meter on the 'C' scale with a 'slow' response time at 107dB with an ambient noise level of 75dB.

i went with the 40 series. its isnt super deep muscle car sounding but people hear me coming from a ways away. like tmm217 said its has a deep rumble at idle and and a smoother rumble at cruising speed. when you get to about 4000 rpm i kinda quiets out, but i think that would be changed with a high flow cat.

Thanks for the replies! The reason behind my asking is that I am not the only one that drives my blazer and I don't really want something that is "overpowering". I wouldn't really mind it myself, but I guess I need to compromise somewhere...lol. Thanks for the information, and hopefully all turns out well!

When I had my s10 with a super 44 the idle rattled the windows on my house that were not directly behind the truck.
