Question 2" lift shackle dimensions

Hey, i have seen shackles here and there and found ones on ebay for $100 (i am in canada) i will order them but i would like to know the exact dimensions so i can make my own.

i read 8" long for 2" lift... what about hole positioning, width, etc

i want 2-2.25" lift in the back

I would suggest buying some universal shackles form most autoparts stores (for about $20). If you wish to fab your own, just check the fit of the universals, use them as a template and build your own or improve on the unis). Can't tell you how they will hold up (as is) though.
I have not done this, but I will be picking up a set of the universals for a quick 2" lift this weekend. If all goes well, I will try to post up a picture or two of how they go on.

Also try www.synergyoffroad.com for a set built to fit your Blazer specifically.

Hope that helps.
**EDIT** Looks like Synergy and 3 Leaf Fab are both out of stock at this time. Might have to go the uni route. Good Luck.

I just installed a set of synergey 1.5 inch lift shackles and it as the best money I have spent on my blazer yet. They are a heavy duty shackle that are way better built then anything that came from the factory. They were also out of stock when I ordered mine but it was well worth the wait. Thank you Synergy

Just use the stock measurements & increase the distance between center or top of the bolt holes, bottom, doesn't matter, just measure from the same points of refference & add 1.5"

I have pics of the ones I made in my profile (I think). I just added 2" to the stock distance.

I believe mine are 10", 8" bolt centers. 3" from inside to inside.
don't remember the drill bit I used for mine. use a minimum or 1/4"x2". i used 3/8"x2" flat bar

I drilled my holes 1" from top/bottom, welded in a cross brace(just in case, so they don't fold over) drill press is handy, I clamped all mine together and drilled all 4 pieces at once to make sure they were the same. I then bolted them together and used the bench grinder to round the corners, but if you don't have a good grinder it will take forever to do them all at once.

you need ~4' of flatbar to make a set of shackles.

just measure yours and add 4" to gain roughly 2" lift. because you are only lifting one side of the leaf spring, every 2" of increased shackle length will only give you a hair under an inch

hope this helps

and dont forget new bushings and bolts for those shackles your factory will be hard to get off and you have to cut a bolt or 2 and you may ruin a bushing

ya I got lucky and only had one bolt give me problems, drivers leaf spring bushing, but got the upper one out so gave in a few wacks with the 12lb mini sledge and it came out.

if you are doing add-a-leaf as well (or over 2" shackles) your shocks will pretty much be maxed out. 1/2 ton 4x4 rear shocks are what i used... ~3-4" longer, and bolt right in.

u have to add double the amount you want to lift the truck to the shackles as it only lifts half the spring and the axle is in the middle so if u want a 2" lift u have to add 4" of length to the factory shackle. the factory shackles are 4"/OC in length and 3" gap between each side so ur new shackle would have to be 8"/OC long for 2" lift
