4 inches total lift sugestions.
Ive been trying to plan out a lift i want to do over the summer. i want to get about 4 inches of total lift. i also as with anyone want to do it as cheaply as posible. after doing alot of searching this site and others on the subject it seems that if i do a 2 inch body lift , 2 inch rear shackles and a t-bar crank this will get me to were i want to be. a couple of concerns i have are 1. how hard will re alignment be with the t bars cranked. 2, when you do a body lift and use the bumper lift brackets how much weaker do they make your bumpers, i know i cant tow off the rear but i more concerned about the "what ifs" of an acident. anybody also have pictures of their blazer / jimmy with this combo. ? am i on the right track?

i did the exact same thing.
2"body lift and shackles and t-bar crank. only 1.5" on crank though. anymore than that seems to be big issue. alignment shouldn't be problem, hasn't been for me.

3" body lift $90
2" rear shackle $50
1" t bar crank free!
4" total for less than the cost of a 2" body lift.
anywhere can bang out an alignment so they aren't tough. if you know what you are doing, you can even get in the ball park...
with that much lift you will progbably be tossing on bigger tires so you can get an alignment when the mount and balance your new skins...
as for the bumper brackets, S-series rigs aren't known for their ability to shrug off a hti anyway. of course they will be weaker. the further your brakets push the bumper off the fame (up and out) the weaker they will be. if you get into an accident, it will not make a huge difference. you will still buckle your crap and have to buy new gear (best case scenario) and thats stock or on lift brackets.
as for pics... basically all of the best looking 2 gens run that set up you mentioned. my shopping list is just a cheaper way to get there.

ABN31B, i like that list you have there. that body lift is for 83 -94 trucks, will it fit ours as well? id imagine there are some diferences. im a mechanic for a living so an alignment isnt an issue. i was just wondering if there is enough adjusment there. warthogdriver, awsome rig, i was running those same lights untill yesterday i bought some hella 500ff's. night and day IMO. thanks for the imput!

kit will fit, but you will need to fab your own bumper brackets
the rear you might be able to re-drill, but the fronts will be of your own creation

is there anything extra that ill need that you can recal?. ive never body lifted a blazer , any steering extensions, radiator shroud stuffs? etc.. i know the p/a 2 inch kit has a ton of stuff that comes with it. for now im thinking of just doing the shackles and crank, i know the shackles are 2 inch but with the crank and shackles will it be level? im about a half inch lower in the front now.

all you will need for body lift comes in kit.
as far as shackles you will need new leaf bushings, old ones will need to be tore out.
search for the how to...it will show you all you need to know.

I know the PA kit comes with everything , i was refering to the 3 inch kit from summit for the 1st gens. did you like how the t-bar firmed up the ride?

i didn't think 3" kit would work on 2nd gen.
firmed it up a bit , but that was what i was hoping for.
before i started messing with my ride she floated down the road like and old caddie and not in the cool pimp mobile kind of way

3" kit will work for a 2nd gen, but there's no bumper brackets in the 3" kits. So your rear bumper will be off a bit. Also the fuel filler hoses will need some work as well on a 2nd gen with a 3" kit. Along with everything else getting moved an extra inch...so you can do it but it will require a bit more attention
