Default new 31/10.50's! shackle help please

So i was driving by a local tire shop, and they had a going out of buisness sale going on, so i went in and got a kick *** deal on a set of 31/10.50's bfg's brand new for 200$. What a deal. So i know this has been gone over a few times as my searches tell me, but what i need to know is i want to make my own shackles, and want to go another 2 - 2.5 inches higher to even the stance out and squeeze those 31's under the back. I wanted to know if anyone has made there own shackles, if so do i measure between the centers of the stock shackles from bolt to bolt, and add 2 inches to that? will that give me 2 inches of added lift??

I used a set of $19 Advanced Auto shackles and welded some reinforcment gussets onto them and they work awesome. Added @ 2.5" on the rear of my blazer. That along with a torsion bar crank, I was able to put some 31X10.5's under my blazer just yesterday. Had to do just a minor bit of "persuading" with a rubber mallet to the rear of the front wheel wells.

thats how I made mine... complete with measurements
You should also check out the tutorial on How to T Bar Crank because you'll probably have to do that too for clearence & then a front end alignment is probably needed.
