Default new to blazers, never seen this before!!!

so i am new to owning a blazer and every other 4wd i have seen has had the rear leaf springs mounted above the rear axel, mine are below the axel and im not sure why, do blazers come like this??? if so why? and what should i do to lift it, i have no idea how to approch this accept to move the springs above the axel and get a slightly bigger lift on the front than on the rear, any help would be much appreciated

its a 93 s10 blazer tahoe lt edition btw

you answered your own question. or you can just buy lift springs. makes it easy for the guys who want to lower their trucks they just put a block in the back. on my 93 i put the axle under the spring for a little bit of lift. but thats the easy part. the more involved costly lift comes in lifting the front.

i really dont know why they put it on top of the spring

This is very common to have the axle over the spring pack. It makes for better on road manners. In the off road world many people do whats known as a SOA Lift, or Spring Over Axle Lift. It will give you 2-3 inches of new found height! It usually isn't to hard to do, and there may be kits specific to the Blazer you can buy. It is mainly just replacing the U bolts and making sure/replacing the brake lines and verify that the steering links are clear and have a full range of function, both compressed and flexed.

Actually a SOA lift gives you about 5-5.5" of lift. You have to add up the thickness of the axle and the leaf spring pack.

there are SOA kits out there that include components for the front as well as brackets for the rear leafs

<edit> always replace, never re-use U-bolts
