Default Rc or crank and shackles

I'm trying to figure out if I want to spend the extra money and buy the rough country 2.5" kit or save some money and just do the torsions and buy a shackle. I probably won't be wheeling too much with it but want a better look and capability

Don't hijack it then and search... Hint, there's a tech article about it.

littlejimmy I dont mind, cranking up your torsion bars is actually quite easy if you have upper body strength or a long enough pipe. All you have to do is jack up your blazer one side at a time just until the tires off the ground and tighten the bolts, make sure to measure frequently before and after and try to keep track of how many turns you do. But as Swartlkk said if you need any info there is plenty of better write ups than mine

I don't agree with the save the money now approach. In the long run (& it'll start within a year depending) a proper suspension lift (SL) will save you money because the front end components won't be wearing out so fast due to the extreme angles.
Hubs
CV joints
Ball joints
Tie rod ends
Horrible/rougher ride
I've been there & done the TB twist & shackles & I wasn't happier spending the $250 for the RC lift (minus the crappy BJ's they'll be replacing on warranty - factory fault issue so ask a salesman if they have the updated ones)
My front axles are at a better angle because of it & I have a better turning radius, not that it was an issue before because I find blazers turn really well.
The 4 new shocks are decent, no issues to speak of yet.
If you & a friend can do it yourself that's an even bigger bonus - pizza & beer is a lot cheaper on a weekend than to pay a shop for a day PLUS you get that satisfaction of DIY!

<edit> I do agree about not to go crazy on the TB twist, if that's your choice. That's the root of all front end evil IMO.
And doing the RC kit yourself you also get the familiarity of getting to know your new ride.

Cutting the front diff is very easy. Line up the template, mark it & I used an angle grinder with a cutting disk then switched to a grinding disk to smooth it out/finish it.
