Default whats holding it back?

hey guys. a few months ago i tried to put some lift shackles in my 95 blazer, but failed. but when i did it, the leaf spring wouldnt fall all the way down as expected. whats holding it up once the leaf spring bolts are off? and if it is the shock absorber, does that mean i can put a larger shock in and then pull the spring down lower? any imput would be great...im new to this:/

yes you need to undo the shock from the spring perch and that will allow you to lower the axle, also remove the wheels so you can drop it even more. yes after you install the shackles you will be able to install longer shocks tho not needed if your only going 1.5"

I just put a bottle jack in between the frame and spring and used it to push them down until i had the holes lined up
