Default Battery Drained with everything off?

Hello,

I recently replaced a 5 year old battery thinking it was defective. While installing the new battery I noticed a pretty healthy spark when connecting the terminals. With the light removed under the hood it still sparks as though it is drawing current. Is this normal for the Blazers?

Thank you,

John

When you turn your blazer off there is a 5-15 min window where a number of circuits are still active before the truck completely goes to sleep. Cycling the power such as at the battery can restart the shutdown sequence. Wait 5 min and then measure the parasitic current draw. Doors closed, hood down, all lights off. If the current is high then you search for the source of your parasitic draw.

Good to hear it was that easy for you. I find parasitic draws to be one of the most difficult challenges to tackle.
