Unhappy Battery is powered, but Key does nothing.

Hello, today I was riding my 1989 Chevy blazer and straight out of thin air the thing goes and died on me. I quickly pulled over to the side and turned my key off, I then tried to start it again but there was nothing! I got towed home and quickly started searching for the problem. Everything that uses the battery still works like horn lights etc but everything that needs the key turned over like radio AC and all that doesn't. I started with fuses but couldn't find any that were broken, I then searched most every wire I could and found no damaged cables. About 2 hours went by and the thing got power again, so I turned it over let it run and got ready to take it on the road for a test but before I even could it went and died again on me! Which then made me realize it wasn't a cable broken because it wouldn't have started on its own again. So as of right now I'm really stumped and have absolutely no idea what it could be or were to start even! If anybody has had this problem and or knows what it could possibly be and has a solution I could try I would be so much appreciative!

Hey I'd say try looking at your alternator right beside it there should be 2 fusible links, try having your key turned and fiddle around with those wires, seems to have worked for me hope it helps
