Morning Folks.

So my roommate wakes me up at 5:20 A.M. to tell me my alarm is going off on my Jimmy (2002 GMC Jimmy SLS). I could hear it as I was waking up, and her boyfriend had headed out to see what was up. Just before he got to the truck the alarm stopped on it's own.

I throw clothes and shoes and head out to check out things. Get to truck hit the fob to unlock. Look inside, everything is there. Doesn't look like anyone got into it. (we did have a couple of guys acting suspicious last night on the street at around 11 PM).

So I close the door, hit the fob to lock and decide to test door handle. Door opens no problem, setting off the alarm of course. Disable alarm with fob, close door, hit lock on fob. Try again to open and sure as hell the door opens no problem setting off the alarm.

I am not sure at this point if someone did mess with it or something has gone on the door (electronic lock). I am able to manually lock the door, and close it then hit the lock on fob and enable alarm and that does lock the door.

Actuator? Fuse? A short?

I plan on examining it once it gets light here, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask my fellow owners and the forum pros if they have seen this before.

And adding to the post above.

Putting truck into drive engages the other door locks, but not the drivers door.

I am suspecting it's the actuator at point.

Thoughts on how to fix this?

There are a pair of relays that alternate power and ground on the door lock motor/actuator wires to perform the lock/unlock function by reversing the current flow. This allows the same motor to reverse and perform both functions in a given door. The same two relays operate the other three doors for lock and unlock all at the same time but the drivers door is unique. It uses one of those relays common to the other three doors but its other relay is dedicated to the drivers door. This means that your failure can be that unique relay, the wiring to the lock/unlock motor or the motor itself. I would start by measuring the voltage at the door motor on the tan and gray wires when you attempt lock and unlock. You should see 12v across those two wires in lock and the opposite polarity in unlock. If you do its the door lock motor/actuator. If there is no power there then we move on.
