will a 1000 watt amp cause a melt down in your system IF NOT properly wired up? OH, i have 92 blazer 4.3 vortec I can answer this question myself YES! SSoooo what is making all my wiring get so hot LIKE the wire coming off the ALTERNATOR but i have already replaced alter WITH NEW ONE NOT REFURBISHED!! and my battery guage keeps dropping way down , also replaced NEW BATTERY, AAND STILL my trucks dead again after sitting for just 2 weeks AND DONT TELL ME THATS NORMAL! PLEASE HELP

I would do 'the big 3' wiring upgrade. And if that doesn't stop it from dying, you might need a larger alt/ bigger or extra battery.

ok ok here we go...


What size wire are you using for the power wire to the amp? It'll say it on the wire "4 gauge,8 gauge etc" If you say you are using a power cord you will be condemned lol.

BIG 3 :
The wire to the alternator,the ground from the battery and the ground wire that runs from the battery to the engine is changed from the tiny wire the manufacturers use to 4 gauge or bigger to help current flow etc. Does it help? YES.

for 1000 watts (please state what amp you have and model) you need 4 gauge power wire from the amp,to the battery. With a fuse 16 inches from the battery closer to the battery.

On topic... there still is the issue of her truck bleeding the battery after sitting 2 weeks, something is grounding out or 'always on' for a static current to something I think.

Which USED to happen a lot back in the nineties when I was helping my kid and his friends sort out probs with sound system Amps.
