Default heated mirrors on 1997

Still parting my 2000 Jimmy.

Want to put my heated mirrors on my 1997. I know they'll bolt up.

I know the power control part will work.

Is it possible for me to scavenge the harness off the Jimmy and Integrate into the Blazer for the heat....?

I'd like to do it safely. I have schematics for a lot of circuits, but not this one. Not sure where to tie it in or how and not dork things up. Does teh BCM come into play on this...?

I have considered moving dash and all wiring that will plug in from the firewall rearward into my 1997 Blazer. Updated look and I like the layout of the controls better. Also gives me at least part of a circuit for a factory fog light switch. This might be more than I want to tackle right now since this is my DD and i don't have my backup going yet.

'fraid not brother.

i just upgraded my pwr/heated mirrors on my '98, put '00 pwr/heated ones on.

couple of things. yes they'll bolt up, but the studs are a different size thread. same size socket to remove the nuts, but the threads are bigger on the '00 mirrors.

luckly i put the nuts back on the mirrors when i took them off the donor truck.

but the plug is totally different. i'm going to upload a couple of pic's to PB to show you.........................

ok....i'm back finally. (as you can see, PB was being a bitch tonight for some reason.)

so, here's what the 2000 plug looks like (this is looking @ the wire side of the plug, from the mirror side).......

and this is the plug that was on my trucks original mirrors......

as you can see, there is 2 more holes in the newer plug. but both style of mirrors have the same amount of wires (5) and use the same coloured wires for each side. meaning the 3 coloured wires & 2 black wires used on the 2000 left mirror, are the same that is used on the 1998 left mirror.

i just used a terminal removal tool to pull out all of the wires from the plug body, and reinstalled the wires in the correct style plug for the truck.

***make it easier on yourself*** make a small drawing on the wire location so when you change the plugs, they'll work correctly. i got lucky, mine functioned properly the first try.

but the question of, "hmmm...i wonder if i did it right?" did cross my mind.

now.......if you're planing on changing the wiring harness for the whole dash...then you won't need to do everything i just mentioned above. but i think you may want to dig deep into that conversion, not totally sure on how all the electrical & plumbing is on those '95 through '97. but since you're gutting the donor truck, i'd just take a s**t load of pic's as you do the tear down.

just label all the nuts & bolts in ziplock bags, and be sure to take the duct/air box work from the '00, cause i know that stuff is different between the years, for the enviro systems.

hope that helps you out somewhat.

oh yeah, don't forget to take the door skins as well, they're different from your '97's. an take the rear door skins too. might as well make everything match.

Thanks.

Got nuts.

The biggest questions here are the harness for the heat and if it can be selectively excised from the '00 and grafted into the '97 -

AND -

the whole '00 harness/dash/climate ducting interfacing with the '97 PCM/engine harness/body wiring.

I am not rewiring the whole rig. Not this year anyway. I know it isn't going to be plug-n-play, but really....it should work. If I can't have heat in them now, maybe later when I/if I transfer the whole dash and wiring over.

I'll have the junk so I can look at it once its out and access what kind of job it'll be.

Thanks.

If its the same number of wires for the old-new - but going from 6-pin connector in 97 to 8-pin connector in 2000 then where does the heater circuit come into play...? With not schematic for the heated mirror in any manual I have seen I do not understand how they are integrated.

Ideas...? Does the BCM control it...?

like i said earlier, the 2000 has a 10-pin connector (1st pic).

not 100% sure about your '97, but my '98 has the 8-pin connector (2nd pic).
