Hey, I built an LED light module and I am having trouble getting it to work with the car. I spliced into the wires going to the light socket that I am replacing. The LEDs come on when the car has been sitting a while, but not when it is on, or recently turned off.

Here is my circuit:
The wires from the driver side courtesy light go to a 7805 5V+ regulator. On the other side of the regulator are LED's with proper resistors in parallel.

I am guessing that the regulator is making the PCM think the bulb is either out or shorting, not sure which... or how this stuff works. I noticed something weird, when the circuit is on there is 0V on the negative, when the circuit is off, there is 12V+ on the negative... Any thoughts, suggestions or warnings?

Thanks!

Regards,

Thomas

Why are you using a regulator? All you really need is the correct resistors... Like my dome light is 4 leds in 2 pairs, each pair has a 270 ohm resistor. Works fine every time and has alot less that can go wrong with it.

The regulator is so the lights don't get brighter or dimmer as the voltage changes. I just thought it was a nice touch.
