The solid black wire (no white stripe) is the ground and the purple wire is the data feed.

Still isn't flashing, check engine light just stays on. What is pin 16 ? I grounded that pin with the paper clip, it popped and the paper clip got hot.

Sorry for the wrong info. That's the thing with 95. I usually don't answer about them because they prove me wrong.

I don't know which orange wire is in pin 16. Why you grounded it doesn't matter now. Yes, 12 volts is required for testing. Put the battery on a charger and start checking all your fuses. Sniff around for anything burned.

I was off on the original pin location, not the wire color. You're toasting things faster than I can double check my answers and post them.

Your dedication, hard work, willingness to learn is admirable. You've proven yourself as "tha real". I'm a fan.

Respectfully, when you're not sure about something, please stop. You're dealing with very dangerous situations. Wet cell batteries can explode, blowing acid everywhere. Electrical problems can catch fire. Put them around fuel and adding starting fluid into the mix increases the risk exponentially.

I don't want to start a thread on this. But everybody has a story of educated experienced technicians hurting themselves. I have 9 and 1/2 fingers.

The orange wire in pin 16 is usually the power feed that's 12 v. at all times. Now we know for sure. Sorry to hear that autozone sold you another defective battery. Good thing it's under warranty.
