Question Rear wiper has a mind of its own

my rear window wiper seems to have a mind of its own. when i hit the brakes it'll jump itself up onto the window or even do a complete cycle across the window. and when i use the switch for the wiper when i shut if off it just keeps going like i left it on. anyone have any clue why its doing this?

If the wiper is working when the switch is off, your switch is probably bad. I just changed the rear wiper motor on my '96 Blazer because it was rusted. Normally the wiper has a 5 second delay between sweeps unless the washer is on and then the sweep is continuous. Kyle posted a schematic of low/hi rear wiper system which helped me diagnose my problem even though mine is one speed. I didn't have to pull the switch, so I can't help you there.

I'm having a similar problem. Did replacing the switch fix your issue?

Check the ground also for the wiper motor, bad grounds can do some weird things. Its under the back panel where your rear dome light is.

Its real obvious. but wait. we are talking about a second gen, where the windshield wiper is located on the tail gate and not the glass at the top of the window like it is on my first gen. I would remove the tail gate panel and follow the ground wire to where it goes, with yours, i would imagine its somewhere near the bottom near the tail gate hinges, sorry for the confusion, so used to first gens
