Thanks for the comment. Everyone has a side. I try to voice mine without starting flame wars. I'm of the few that actually enjoy intelligent dialog.

they bomb, we bomb who wins?

Great point there. that is why terrorism works. if i do something to get attention, and then the entire world reacts, then i have accomplished my goal. then you see what i did and how it worked, so you take a stab at it, but have to step it up to get equal or more attention. and so on. if we just DONT make a big deal out of it, it loses it's effetivness.

now, go put a bomb on a tour bus going to grace land. whack 13 obese and upper-middle class red blooded americans, and injure twice that many again. That would be a highly successful terrorist act. No matter what your agenda, you will have grabbed america by the ****** and have it's full undivided attention.
In order to stop you, all they have to do is not blow it out of proportion....

think that will ever happen?

that is why a war on 'terrorism' is just as dumb as one on 'drugs'.

as for college. it has been 100% free to me for the last 8 years AND i get like $68k or some crap for it when i get out. i could be well on my way to a free doctorate right now.... you know how many college credits i have? .3 credit hours from a Close Quarters Defensive tactics Instructor corse from a college in N.C. *sigh*

Curtis, don't wait too long like I did. I didn't realize the GI Bill had a shelf life of only 10 yrs. Even though I paid for it, it's gone now. If you have the time and you're able to then take some classes. Myself I didn't take advantage of anything when I was in and that's one of my big regrets. So now at a soon to be 35 I am finally planning to pursue a Business Management this fall at BSU. I suppose being late to the party is better than not going at all.

Naw, ABN, I don't think that will ever happen, too jaded and cynical, but the optimist in me says without hope we ain't got diddly, which kinda makes us as bad as those dingbats bombing us. But the media has to "sell copy". same thing they did in 'Nam Bro. After the Tet offensive we had destroyed all of the V.C's hierarchy, but our belove media kept having to make a story/sell copy, and so it dragged on mercilessly in a way...

But like the gent form Idaho said, it's never too late. I didn't enter college full time until I was 23. finished most of my work at about 34 yrs. old. You can do alot fo home-study -via-online studies now. You have that "military discipline" so it would be a 'cake walk' for you Bro. once you get the routine down pat... It's scary at first like anything that is new. But since you've already been thru much more scary stuff than most of us civies ever know, it shouldn't even phase you that much. Just remember that alot of people are mis-informed and don't let 'em push your buttons that's all! "It don't mean nothin' ...not a thing" Or as my cousin says who was a lifer in the Army and went back to train young 'uns at Fort Mead in mechanics at the "tender" age of 50, "If you ain't paying me, or sleeping with me, I don't care what you say. or think"

I have toyed with the idea. i put my wife through college. she got her MBA this past summer ('08) but i have no real desire to go. i need to. even if i saty in it will make e-8 and e-9 more attainable. i have e-7 in the bag already....

The thing is i dont do work. i would just learn what i had to learn to smoke all of my test, do what had to be done durring the day, and blow off all home work. C's and D's get degrees baby.

TBH i can not make myself want to do it. i am just not motivated at all by the idea of going back to school after an 8 year break. i like the fact that i can not relate to anyone that went to college. hell i cant even relate to people who have had real jobs. I have not done anything with my life outside of this. it is all that really gives me purpose, and until i started tooling around with the blazer, the army was my hobby.

i know that it is a HUGE benift. hell it's the biggest draw for kids to join. it's not for me though. Plus i'm afraid of failure. i appreciate the words of support though. who knows maybe i'll score some learnin' yet.

it's funny when you get a group like this together on any forum anywhere else on the inter webs we would be dug in going to town on eachother with flamethrowers...
I, like steve, am enjoying flexing the old brain muscle and duking it out with you guy civil-like Thanks for the enjoyable converstaions.
now all we need is some asshat to pop in here and get all "these colors don't run!" on use so we can get rolling again :icon-razz:

Just so you know, I have incredible respect for our soldiers. Being a soldier is a REAL job, in fact I'll confidently say it is one of the hardest jobs there is.

Don't put yourself down like that!

not saying this aint a good gig and all, just saying beyond spraying old food off of plates, i have never been employed in the real world. i mean i have no real grasp of how outside 'jobular functions' works

btw 'jobular' is a word. google "Blazer Forum 30,000 jobular" it's right there...

Let me tell you, taking part in "jobular functions" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

And yes, I finally found a reason that smiley was appropriate for!!!

I agree w./ OKvortec! You've done a hell of a righteous thing Bro.! (imo). College ain't for anybody as I said a few posts back. There is trades to be learned, and probably will pay MUCH better in the long run. I went back to school mainly so if I got injured I'd have a 'safety net', as alot fo guys I worked with had their hopes dashed whne they got injured, putting a strain on their marriages, and going back to school all at the same time. So I figured I'd go back, but sometimes it seems like it was all for naught.

But hell man, it's only life, and EVERY institutuion we go thru, (IF we do)< be it penal (prison), marriage, military, mental, or academia is all alot of hype. It's just a silly arsed game. So, I just GOOF on the motherfluffers, 'cause I wasn't born wealthy, so I gots to plays their silly-arsed game. "Beam me up Scotty" so to speak *wink*

I'm a primary caregiver for a 91 year old Mom. Carrying her to the ferkin' toilet, and back to bed. Went from being a border-line outlaw and back-country ranger out in your neck of the woods, GOD, how I miss the Pacific Northwest Bro., you have NO idea!--LOL!-- to becoming a "Nurse Nightingale". I rode w./ major bike gangs, 'Live to Ride, Ride to Live' as a 1%-er, (as in snow, ice, 140+ M.P.H. didn't care...but didn't get into the organized crime/drugs/prostitution, just LOVED to ride... I had a rice burner as I was into speed, so I could NOT join even if I wanted to, which I did not, was raised better than that! (imo) That kept me safe, so to speak! Except for an occasional thumping by drug-crazed scumbags that thought they were hot chit 'cause they rode a Harley
