Default Anyone Know anything about Hydraulic Jacks in Engine Hoists?

Kso, went to go start putting my engine in now that my son isn't sick.

And the Engine Hoist wont hoist... or go down. We tried putting new fluid in it and everything. Anyone have any helpful info? I'd really like to finally get my engine in

...Well my dad was spraying air in it to flush out the old oil. And the plug thats supposed to be halfway up the hydro arm isn't there and hasn't been there since our neighbor let us borrow it lol. So that's very possible. lol

When we try to raise it up it just goes up and down. It won't stay. We can lift the boom up by hand and it'll stay... but we ain't gonna do that with the engine on it! lol. And sometimes it wont lower... its like it's going through mood swings, lol.

Any idea how to fix that? I'd really like to hear my engine crank up soon. I miss my truck

Sounds like a check valve may have gotten stuck when getting the old oil out. Or some crud is clogging a line up some where. I'd have to tear it down to find out exactly what is wrong.

Sorry, I know that's not much help.

Well come on up from Guff Pote!!! We'll go home with ya. Hubby is from Gulfport and hasn't been home in a couple years lol.

Do you know if its supposed to have two little metal ***** in the bottom of the jack lever, I reckon thats the check valve? Cause there is only one in it, we are afraid that we mighta lost the other when my dad was spraying air through it. It was sitting down for a couple of months, but it wasn't all the way down. We had resting on my engine to keep the tarp from blowing off. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Heres a pic of it... if it helps lol
