Default Earthquake

Just in case New Zealand doesn't figure in your news, I thought I'd tell you we had an earthquake in Christchurch in the South Island. Measured 7.1 on the Richter scale. - No casualties!

I'm at the top end of the North Island so it didn't affect us.

Same day, we had a plane from the local skydiving club crash at the Fox Glacier (also on the South Island) killing 4 tourists & 5 locals.

Hey Kiwi,It was in my city paper today. There is a pic showing a small gold colored car, smashed from bricks falling on it. That was a very powerful quake and luckily,so far, there are only a few injuries.

Just watched it on the morning news. Quite a bit of destruction. 7.1 is a BIG quake!

I also saw a news article in my local news paper here in New York. Glad to see it was not much worse than it was and I hope the after shocks are not bad.

Five days later the aftershock continue. Here's a timeline of the aftershocks. Quite frightening actually.
