Default Seismograph of Japan Earthquake

Here is the sesimograph we recorded at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg of the Japan earthquake this morning.

Its a Long Period Veritcal Seismometer. Basically we pick up large earthquakes from anywhere in the world.

Im assuming thats like one straight line when there arent any eathquakes? Incredible.

yes, if you look close you can see the straight lines, and those are periods of no seismic activity
