The general ODB II scan tool has been plenty for my Blazer needs -- though I think for my Silverado, I will get what Kyle has. It would be nice to tweak it a little more.

I agree that it is silly to have you life wrapped around a LAptop. This is a CAr. combustion engine, shouldn't need a computer to own a car.
The real issue I have is how the the Inspections stations are run. It was first a matter of Safety and Emmisions. No with the OBD II, if you car is running clean BUT your transmssion is slipping (for example) it wont pass. All this OBDII info is not horrible BUT they are using all this monitoring as a way to fail or get more service money from teh car owner. The car is safe, the car runs clean BUT it has a code for something that is not relevent to clean air.. it still fails. I have a problem with that
