When I was 14 (that was about 43 years ago) I was riding a 350 BSA in the dirt, I was only 130-140 pounds.
It's not the size of the bike that makes it easier to learn, its the size of your brain. If you are so stupid to think you gotta ride with the throttle twisted all the way on you're gonna die on a 50cc moped!
Look at the bigger bikes not necessarily the biggest and look towards the cruisers. These will make riding tandom and long distances much moer enjoyable--that is what you are buying it for right.

I wouldn't mind learning to ride a bike. I want to get my learners soon before the laws change in our area. Right now you go write a written test, then receive your learners if you pass. Restrictions being that you can't have any passengers, and you can't ride at night.
My dad owns a 1981 Yamaha Seca 550 and likes it. Not sure if you will find any of those though...

Nope the 650 was the model that came with a turbo.

His looks exactly like that. Pretty mint condition because it sat it a shed for 13 years.

Anyone on a Blazer forum is probably a good'ole boy, or a rednecker wannabe. Either way, we probably spend loads of time in the outdoors and at outdoor activities. That being said, I'd get a dual sport.
Something you can enjoy on the streets; yet take cross country in a heartbeat, or during an emergency.
My lil Yamaha TW200 takes my 140# butt to some awesome mountain & prairie waters w/gear & tackle.
At 6' you would probably be comfy on a Kaw KLR650 or similar.
