Looking for a new laptop
#12
Yup, GF is down in SC now, to bad shes only there for 10 days and they say it ships in 14 days.....DAMN.
Will have to go check futureshop, best buy, local computer stores, and browse newegg.
Reality is i will probably drop and break it that way before any of the components fry, thats pretty much what happened with my acer.

i3 processor, on sale for 700 bucks...dont really need anything much better than this..love the looks of it
Ok so this is the one i ended up getting.
Still nervouse becuase didnt get to actually touch and feel it, but couldnt find a bad review on them, only bad thing i could find is some people said the mouse button was a bit hard to push and thats it.
was on sale for a 2 day sale only for 700 bucks, this laptop was 900 a month ago...my laptop i have now does everything i need it to, but figured if buying a new one might as well spend an extra 150 and get something a bit faster and up to date.....like that it has a usb 3.0...was looking at the lenovos but for what i use it for was just a bit much....i got 500 bucks given to me to go towards a laptop, and mine still works now..so going through my head is, do i just get one thats 500 bucks and its a free laptop that roughly the same as what i have, or do i put a bit extra cash to it and get something better....basically the things i liked the most is i dont like all these laptops with all this plastic...as thats what i broke on mine..this one at least has bamboo backing which makes the screen a bit less flexy, and an aluminum top so hoping its going to be a bit stronger than some of the cheaper cases
did have my eye on some samsungs but just couldnt bring myself to it, 550 bucks could get me similar to the asus, only a core 2 duo processor (what i currently have) but has bluetooth and a 512mb video card....but downside is it runs 32 bit...so i figured the only thing i would need a video card for is watching movies, and the asus with the 3i processor and 64 bit probably will run as good or better for that then the 512mb video card on a core 2 duo and 32bit..am in on the right lines here?
At first really liked a samsung i found with an i5 in it for 800 with a 512 video card...and was one of the top ones i was looking at, until i found out that you couldnt remove the battery.........WTF kind of a design is that? i pointed it out to the sales guy and he just went,,what,,,really?......goes over to look and goes,,,,,oh,..thats a stupid design wtf were they thinking......like battery will last 3-4 years and im HOPING the laptop will outlast the battery...so thats what turned me off of the samsung laptops as lots of them had internal batteries which seems a bit stupid to me, although some of them i liked the look of...
.in the 700 ish range there is WAY to many of these laptops with retarded designs on them (hp), with a weird finish, bright colours. i want something low key and a bit more elegant looking and there was really only this asus, a gateway and a samsung...the gateways have horrible reviews to that was quickly ousted, and the samsungs battery is internal..and asus seems to be a well reviewed brand and in brand comparison reviews is top 3 consistently...samsung being a new maker of laptops doesnt have any reviews for longevity of their laptops as they are new, seems they are trying to impress with bells and whistles value (video card on a 550 laptop) where others dont, but that has to come at a sacrifice somewhere else.
Anyways what was killing me was no bluetooth (although dont think that will really matter) and no video card, but have gotten by this far already so should be fine...............couldnt make up the mind if i wanted to spend the 300 extra for the asus over the 500 i was given, but figured if i got a 550 laptop after taxes thats just over 600, so really after taxes its like an extra 150 for the asus..and..i just spend that much on locks for a trailer, so figured i should just bite the bullet for something that will probably last longer (asus 150 more than some samsung) and its something that i will have for a long time.
now just to wait for it to come in (And keep my eye out for 2 weeks incase it goes on sale to get some extra cash back).....making a decision on this was harder than a utility trailer, but figured rather than drag it out for 2 weeks i might as well just get it over with....something new will come in 2 weeks, but, something new will come 2 weeks after that, and etc.
