Default Lumina start problems

2001 Lumina. Turn the key and nothing happens. Lights do NOT go dim. Battery is good. Been having some early symptoms where there was a pause, when I turn the key, before it would turn over. Starter? Connections are good. What are starter symptoms? I'd come home later in the day, then it would start. Thanks.

Smack the starter with a hammer and try to start it. if it starts then the starter can be bad,but just that doesnt mean its bad. If that does not work then replace the relay for good luck. Them lumina starters can be a pain to replace.
