I have had one and the pain really wasn't the infection itself it was the doctor cleaning the 4 inch deep by 2 inch wide hole in the side of my body out. Now that pain would incapacitate you and make you cry.

Mine are a lot smaller than that and they gave me vicodone and I don't want to take them because I don't want to have a habbit start from it.

If the doc is treating the infection and prescribed pain meds, take them when necessary. You shouldn't have to worry about developing an addiction during the period of time it takes to treat the wound.

take the pills unless you have had some sort of other incident with pain killers. if thats the case then i would take it easy on them for sure.

I know lastnight before bed I took two and I slept so great. And I took half of one already today and it seems to be doing the trick.
