I know I'm late on this but there are some guys out there running bagged 4x4's and a few guys have managed to keep the 4wd functional and lay out. There are a few different set ups for it, I can't say I'm really familiar them... but here are a couple pics I found on s10forum
This is a porkchop set up that allows you to keep the functional 4wd... big drawback to this is that you have to invest serious coin to get new cv's that won't break or bind under the extreme angles.
The other way to do it is to go with a uca set up which obviously doesn't keep the 4wd. you have to remove the front drive axles and bolt the hubs together with just the outer cv joint. People generally credit this as the easier way... I personally think this one looks a bit sketchy. lol but it's the only pic I could find.

you dont have to cut your bumpstops, they unbolt they did on my 88 anway,
im planning on removing the torsion bar suspension on mine and swapping it over to bags. i just need to save up for a torsion bar delete crossmember from sytyperformance
