Default lowering 4x4 question

I'm picking up a new blazer within the next few weeks. (Sold my last one for a few years in the honda scene)
I want to lower the 4x4 3 inchs front n back. My friend was trying to say I would destroy the front drive shafts if I lowered it. But I see several people online doing it. People have any issues with this?

I have lowered two, a 95 and 96 and doing the 99 today, the 95 and 96 were both 4dr 4wd and i had no problems with the 4x4 or the front end other than just normal wear. I drove the 96 lowered for about four years. Both of them had the belltech kit with the new leaf springs, the 96 I put an additional 1" block in on the leaf and got about 4.5" lower in the back and ran the front about 4" drop. For the 99 I got aftermarket keys and just going to remove a leaf and put in 3" blocks. Hope that helped answer some of your questions about lowering a 4wd.
