Short story long: a couple weeks ago someone hit my truck while it was parked on the side of the road ('06 Dakota) so I was in the market for a vehicle again. A few years ago I used to have an s10 and I loved it. I took it from 195k to 260k until someone ran a stop sign and hit me (just my luck). So this time I thought I would try to find an s10 again because I didn't love the Dakota. This time around I needed back seats for a baby car seat and I just didn't like the look of the crew cab s10 so when I saw a nice deal on a Blazer I took it! It's a 2000 Blazer in great condition and it only has 60k miles on it! So I am joining the forum because I want to know how to take care of it and get the most out of it.
Welcome. This is the place to be to keep it on the road.
60k miles? Nice!
There are lots of annoying things that will likely need to be fixed. However there are two that should be noted as they can cause big-ticket repairs. The first is if the transmission has not been routinely serviced or if it has been abused. You will have a 3/4 clutch pack failure. I did this to mine because like an idiot I towed by boat in overdrive. (BTW do NOT tow in overdrive!) The second is that depending on the year, perhaps ending about in 2000, the lower intake manifold (LIM) gaskets can fail. What happens is that they can fail catastrophically with coolant draining directly into the lifter valley where the oil pump sucks up the coolant and all of the engines bearings become toast.
Front suspension components and oil leaks are also very common but they do not ruin your rig.
Congrats on your new to you Blazer. I too recently picked up an '02, that looks just like yours (I'm not in tune with the differences between those years). So far I have found this forum very useful in solving its problems.

Wow thanks for the heads up! Is there anything I can do to keep an eye out for those things or to actively try to prevent them? I do have a boat but I looking to sell so no problem there haha. (Also I'm not just new to this forum but to forums in general so I hope I am using this quoting tool correctly
