Looks like a 96 blazer with a 98 front clip :P The trim, tail lights, wheels, and body all resemble a 96. Anyway, that looks fun! =D
You are correct I was never trying to pass it off as anything newer in my garage it says what year and such, good eye though.

If you don't mind jumping in the mud to hook up your tow strap this may be a good idea, I however like to keep my interior relatively clean so I stick to 4wd for the soupy stuff. There was no way I would have got through there in 2wd and some of the ruts were deeper then they seemed I almost got stuck the 2nd time around.:P

We usually get coated fairly thickly with snow every winter, I switch from 2-4wd often depending on the conditions if there is any bare pavement I will go without 4wd but if there is half a foot of snow on top of a layer of ice there no point in risking fishtailing to stay in 2wd.
The trick to using your 4wd is keeping momentum, if you ever wheeled you will know a lot of the time if you get stuck in 2wd your 4wd with be virtually useless because if one of your back tires lose traction and you dont have a limited slip you are still rockin 2wd at best. All depends on the terrain though...mud = 4wd
