Default Anyone spray their interior with truckbed liner?

Like the title says! I did a search and nothing came up; if anyone has done this before, how did it turn out? What kind of problems did you run into? How did you route the wires? Do you have pics? I have a 2000 4-dr, and contemplated pulling the carpet; I figured it'd make cleanup a breeze, cut down on any smells trapped by the carpet, and maybe even reduce a bit of road noise if thick enough. Much mahalo from Hawaii!

yes.

what did you search? i searched "bedliner" and found this:
one
two
three
four
five
six
seven (with pics even!)
and as a bonus:
some pics

to my knowledge, only myself, and one other cat with a K-5, t.lytle(?) have gone this route.

as for your hopes:
Turned out: better than you can imagine
Problems: Black tar from hell!!, it was time consuming, sweat will become and issue if you do not take breaks, sticks to EVEYTHING, does not ocme off of skin, skin must die first.
routed wires: the same as factory, just wrapped the hell out of them with electrical tape first.
00 4dr: is what i did as well. if you want to go *****-out, get red liner to match your truck
clean up: is easier (stains and such) but much harder (cant hose out like originally planned de to stereo) hard to vacuum, and if you scrub it out, you have to sop up all standing water since it will not drain...ever... same with rain and tracked in water.
smels: no. the bedliner smells like cady gone bad for quite a while. i actually started to enjoy it much later, and can still remember it.
road noise: slightly worse than carpet, and i went pretty damn thick. if carpet was put in OVER this stuff it would be like a padded room.
also, if you have the $$$ to pay a joint to spray it, go nuts. for the same price, you can fly me out there, and i'll do the job for you, then fly me home

meh, i don't think those bonus pic's show enough detail Curtis.

couldn't find any better ones?

a few of your points you brought up Curtis, were my concerns as well.

i was planning on pulling the carpet in the Spring (to track down a minor water leak) and was thinking of doing the rocker guard on the floor before i reinstall the carpet. so it sounds like it'll definately will cut down on road noise.

thanks for the info Curtis.

@ David: doing the same colour a your body will definately be bonus points in the mod department.

GL, be sure to post a few pic's when you're done.

ABN31B: Ah, I searched with "truckbed liner", which is probably why nothing came up. Your pics are great, thanks so much for posting those! I'm still on the fence about it, but rest assured I'll post pics. As far as stuff sticking to my skin and not coming off until I "shed", well, I've certainly had my share of Great Stuff (insulating foam in a can) mishaps...

Old Skool: As above, I'm still on the fence. I recently redid the truckbed liner around my Blazer, I should probably try to post that. Found out that those no-scrub tire foam sprays work wonders on the liner, came out nice & shiny! Makes me wish I did the whole truck in it! At the moment I am contemplating cutting off part of my center console so I have space between the seats but retain the tray and cup holders... so many ideas, so little time...

i still haven't reinstalled my center console since the herc job. got busy this past summer and it was low priority. if you do remove it, go the route you mentioned which retains the cup holders.... it sucks to drive with a large fountain drink tucked into your crotch because there isn't anywhere else to put it...

seriously thought... go red
$20 more but damn it would look cool with white leds inside and dark interior SEM paint

it's an old school bronco but you get the idea

ABN31B: Nice, very nice. I see your point on the cupholder thing, I retained mine and am currently looking at how to blend the coin holder into the cut end-- looks like I'll be hitting Checker for some Bondo.

And yeah, crotch cupholders are pretty much always a bad idea.

Nice guys!

I just Herculinered my interior, but I didn't go as far forward as you all.

I have a 2 door and since my interior was shot completely, I pulled all the trim rear of my doors. Also since my carpet is devided into 2 pieces (the rear and the front) I pulled the rear carpet. To fill all the holes in my walls I just bought some cheap sheet metal at Lowes and got some self tapping screws. Cut everything to fit. I then lined everything rear of my doors.

I probably should have taken pictures as I was doing it...

My issue is the noise now. I am trying to figure something out to kill some of it and still retain the bulletproof look of the liner... Wal Mart has some cheap auto carpet and rubber that I was thinking of just rolling out back there and just securing it with some carpet tape.
