Body cracked where door latch pin is mounted...
I just bought a new rig and was looking at the door hardware to see what needs replaced for the door to fully close. I noticed there is a few large cracks in the metal behind the latch pin to the drivers door. (Apollogize if I am using the wrong terminology) I don't have any pics at the moment, but was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue, and possibly what can I do to address this issue?
he is talking about where it latches not where it hinges. Thats is cause by bad pins and bushings. They have been ignored for too long and the weight of the door closing many times has caused the steel to tear. The way to fix it would be to remove the latch pin and get it welded up. Then put in a new latch along with the new pins and bushings.
Thank you for the replys. Is the procedure to replace the pins and bushing pretty cumbersome, or require specialty tools? I remember reading in other threads that the kit is only about $20? Thanks guys, sounds like I am looking for a decent welder...
