Clearcoat question PPG MC161
I did search, but "161" is a bulb size as well and I've already gone LED ...
To the point - Dad is helping my son paint his first car (sons first, not Grampa's) and wants to use the same clear coat he's used before. It's apparently PPG MC161 high solids urethane and suddenly really hard to find. A year or so ago it was everywhere and comparatively inexpensive.
So, I guess my question is at least twofold. 1) Is there a reason this stuff isn't on the shelves anymore? (rumors that it's to be retired next year don't explain its absence today) and B) Any idea where we could grab a gallon at the old discount price?
Rather than waste a thread on something that might end up answered with a URL, are the comments I've seen that bash this particular product as junk that yellows in a couple years and exists only so used car dealers can slop on a shiny coat quick and cheap fairly accurate?
If so, any product recommendations for someone who isn't particularly wealthy or talented?

I did a lot of searching for this, and you are right, its really hard to find, Check matrix systems clear coat, I have used the MS-52 quite often and its great, great gloss, lays down very nice, and drys pretty fast. I am reading some places online of people who do not like it, saying the ms52 is not that glossy ect. They just do not know how to lay it down than apparently
Here is some examples of what I have used it on (just model cars, but it lays down the same on a car as I just used it on the jimmy this weekend)
Hope this helps.
