Considering this bumper

I dont really like the front bumper on my '99

I dont know if the style bumper I like was a '00 and up thing or if it's because mine is a base but I was planning on picking one up and having it painted before installing my bull bar when I get home. Then while doing some random poking around on amazon I found this:
http://www.amazon.com/Street-Scene-9...tive&carId=002
doesnt look too body kit-ish for a 4x4 I think, Im gonna think about it a bit before I buy because obviously the junkyard bumper would be cheaper and I wouldnt be as nervous about it being my first experience with my paint gun. I know it obviously depends on my taste and what I think but I was wondering what you guys think of it. IMHO it kinda resembles the Envoy bumper (The Envoy package Jimmy not the newer style)

Doesnt look bad. Like you said not to bodykit-ish. Interested to see a pic of it installed. Have you looked at the street scene ss bumper. Ive always liked the look of it.

Hmmm...not really a fan of that one you posted, but it's impossible to visualize it. I'd have to see a pic of it installed. Why not go with a 2003+ style bumper?

The thing from amazon in the link says BUMPER COVER, so you would utilize the old bumper... just fyi...

Is this the '03 bumper you're referring to? (Pic care of Christman)

Because that's what I was thinking as the alternative to this bumper

I had a bumper cover: cool in my opinion. i HATED the look of mine, but the set up was nice (like a hat on a bad haircut)
That one is exactly what you say: i nice change of pace, without ricing it up. I think you will be pleased and it set it appart from the pack.
Problem is: $330 for a piece of greyish black plastic to slip over the existing bumper....
is it worth that much to you?

Thats kind of the thing, if it was cheap I'd just do it. That kind of price really requires some work to make sure it's going to look right, and I'll want it the same blue as the rest of the truck so I'll have to add paint to the cost. My garage is finally wired up correctly to run my air compressor (which I've been waiting for a chance to play with for a long time) and with a $300+ piece I may think twice about doing my first paint job on it. Where as a junkyard bumper like the white one above I'd feel much better about buying and practicing some body work on. As of today Im leaning towards the factory bumper.
I have actually, I remember I saw one on here and really liked the look of it I just couldnt come up with anything on a search and didnt know who made it. I'll do a little searching now and see what kind of prices I can find on that.
Also keep in mind the only pictures I have of my truck are stock, I have halo projectors and a chrome bullbar waiting to be installed and IMO those are more important to the look of the front end than the bumper cover will be so I dont want something that wont fit the bullbar or else wont be noticed behind it.

Here is my former street sceen gen V ss bumper cover

VVVin this pic see how it looks wavy under the sh***y grille thing? that is because it is only half-assed on there...

i dumped that pig in less than 2 hours on craigslist at $75, dirty and with the hole you see under the driver's side headlight from where the previous owner got to know someones ball hitch pretty weel (i assume as it was a semi-circular hole and dinged bumper inder neath)

That wouldnt look too bad painted I dont think, but it's way too low. Unless I fall in love with the look of the bumper above photo chopped on my truck I think my best route would be a different factory bumper
