Default Driver side power mirror

Hi, can use a little help here. I need to replace my broken driver side power mirror in a 1999 blazer. Exactly where do I start. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

You have to remove the door panel first to get at the plug and unbolt the mirror

I have to do the same on my 1997 Blazer as my wife took the passenger side mirror off on a snow bank this weekend.

Are there any "tricks" to removing the interior door panel? I know there are usually "clips" that hold it on besides a few screws around the dorr handle inside.

Are the clips hard to remove/replace?

Honestly anytime I have to take off a door panel I resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to break a few of the nylon studs(?) (fasteners?) so I just go get some to start with at the parts store. I have surprised myself by net breaking any but I'm ready ahead of time. I've found the best way to get them off is to use something like a "Wonder Bar" and just work it slow around the fasteners. It seems to depend how old they are. They get kinda brittle the older they are.

buy a clip removal tool for a few bucks, its like a screw driver that looks like it has a small pry bar end it. then get a small rag. start by finding a spot you can seperate the door panel enough to get the clip removal tool in there with the rag protecting the paint from scratching, then just look in there and you can see the clips. you dont need to touch the clips with the tool, just get it near them and pry the door panel off in those areas. that will keep you from breaking the clips or worse, breaking the plastic off of the door panel that holds the clips. if you just yank on the door panel you not only risk breaking the clips but the actual door panel and thats a little more expensive to replace than clips. and if youre anything like me, nothing irritates you more than extra rattles in these vehicles which have enough of those to go around. there is a good tutorial on youtube.com on how to remove these door panels. just look it up, the video is from A1auto.com i believe. very good walkthrough.
