hi,
i bought a used tonneau cover for my 88 s-10, the previous owner installed a wing on it...

i want to remove the wing and patch the holes. the cover is fiberglass.

anyone knows how i should do it properly ? the cover will be repainted so i want to do it right once.

sand down around the area you want to fill, and get some bondo-glass (the bondo with fiberglass strands in it, first take some, and pack it in the hole until they are full, and then smooth it out, sand it down, use a good primer over it, you should be good.

Your question was answered quite well by richphotos two posts up:

But that was 8 years ago. What is it with new people exhuming dead threads?

So I recently purchased a low-mileage 2005 S2000; the car is a cream puff with 22K miles and all-original. That's great, but unfortunately the OEM tonneau cover was left wrapped in plastic from the dealership and never used. Because of this, it was bent in some interesting ways that now make it impossible to fit to the car (the main issue is the area that is supposed to be bent at a 90 degree angle to slide between the seats and folded top is almost flat, so I need to find a way to get that 90 degree bend back). As such, I've been trying to bend it back into shape for a week using 40lb. bags of cat litter, 25 lb. free weights, etc. etc. and it sure is a resiliant little bugger! Has barely made a difference. Has anyone else ever attempted to fix the shape of their tonneau? If so, how did you do it and (most importantly) did it work? I like the clean look of the car with the cover on and would enjoy being able to actually use it Thanks for any advice! I searched but didn't come up with anything.
