Sorry about the late reply, just now saw this thread pop up again.

It is very possible to make them yourself. The only difference between how you plan on making them and the Synergy ones are the bolts are threaded into the receiver tube and there is a small steel plate inbetween the bolts and the frame.

Again, the solid slug with a quality shackle is most important. Warn makes a pretty good one, though a bit pricey.

i can give you some measurements and stuff but it wont help you much if you dont have a decently high powered welder that is capable of welding like 1/4". if you want i can probably make you a set and you can find your own shackles locally to save on shipping prices. pm me and i can help you out.
