Default I hit something today, need fix or new part

Dear all

So I hit a pole today with my Blazer LT, never saw it (blind spot). Bumper is quite damaged, could be worse though, but still.
I'm wondering if I can just replace this body part or if it needs manual fixing with putty?
English is not my native language and sadly I don't know the name of the body part that's damaged so it's hard for me to search for a replacement online.
I'm located in Europe, Belgium so parts for these vehicles are hard to come by. Shipping from the USA is an option, albeit quite expensive, I don't mind.

Any help would be appreciated!

I believe the GM part number is 12472170, but the part is discontinued. Do you have salvage yards there where you can buy used parts? I imagine Blazers might not be very common.

My wife damaged the same one on our Blazer. I ended up fixing the one on the vehicle, but it was only paint scratched off.

CARID has the replacement pieces and will ship to Belgium. You need to know if yours has the holes for the trim piece or not.

If you want to try to paint it yourself, know that plastic pieces like this require a special primer to get paint to stick to the plastic. I had good luck with the "Duplicolor" rattle cans to almost match my paint color (many shades of red - not so many silvers), and I also used their clear coat. Hope for an exact match by paint code. It dries pretty fast so less dust in it. Timing is everything when painting. Watch some U-tube videos on painting different plastic types. Follow product instructions. I'm proud to say no paint peeling on mine after 1.5 years.

That looks like too big a gap for Bondo. If you want to try a repair your best bet is fiberglass. First practice with fiberglass, maybe laying some resined cloth over an opened tin can. Use gloves. When you've got the method down right, remove the piece and start with one layer of fiberglass cloth, maybe in several pieces, to cover the hole. After that hardens add more pieces. Then you can use Bondo to smooth it all over. Don't let the Bondo dry all the way before sanding it.
After all that it will probably cost the same as buying a part but not look as good. However, if you still want to give it a try, that's how I would do it.
Of course, repair or replace, you still have to paint it.
