It's silicone grease and it's just to condition the seals, it won't fix the metal on metal squeak the latch is making.

I've used sil-glide to condition mine and you're right it doesnt fix it.

it's AC Delco Silicone Emulsion. it comes in a 50ml bottle, and the part # is 10953014.

it will stop the squeak. it'll swell the weather strip up, giving it a fuller shape, much like when it was BN.

i've gotta say, i must be the lucky one, 'cause my '98 is (pretty much) squeak free. i had this dreaded squeak in my '92 Jimmy, BIG TIME! it was so bad, we called it "Bob the Turkey"-'cause it sounded like a freakin' turkey! i had it in my '84, '85 & my '91 as well, but not as bad as in my '92-which figures, since this was my DD.

i used the AC Delco silicone emulsion on the weather strip, and it had two benifits. it stopped the glass from sticking to the seal, and over time it swelled the seal back up. since it gets compressed over the years, losing it's shape, this is part of the reason for the window "squeak"-movement.

now it didn't happen overnight, but it did reduce it almost completely in about 6 or 7 months (hey, this was over 10 years ago, i don't remember exactly). and the only time it became noticable was when i was on the rough dirt roads up North.
