Yes, it makes a sound. I found the thread giving instuctions on what to order and how to replace...but am a bit confuse on how to get to the 'actuator'. I've a 1999 Blazer and not sure where to get into the area holding the 'actuator'. I've ordered the two blue parts. My blazer has a button you push in the center that is supposed to release the window; then I reach in and pull the lever to open the tail gate.

 

what are you confused about? read the link i posted. you'll get it from there. if not..... the basic idea is this.

crawl in your trunk, break the plastic tab the holds the trim in place in the middle by the handle, reach in and push the lever that pops the glass, push the glass open, drop the tail gate, unscrew the trim piece. unscrew the actuator, pop the blue tab off, pop the new one on and reinstall the actuator. close tailgate (without trim piece back on), close glass, push button to release glass and if it works CONGRATS. put the trim back on and you're done.

i did this 2 years ago, my replacement is still going strong
