Default tire holder mod

i have the 1998 blazer base model now i see the zr2 with the back tire holder and because i have custom rims i cant mount my tire under the truck so i want to put the rear holder on so my rim does not get messed up can somebody tell me what steps i need to take to make this happen on my model i know there is going to be some customization to the body of the truck

Build bumper with swing away carrier. Unless its a street queen since your don't have the bracing inside the body the weight of the carrier will cause body damage. Factory installed they have bracing welded inside that's A. Hard to remove B. Hard to install unless you remove the body skin and reinstall it. Fender washers might be fine for a bit but if the truck sees any kind of offroad use with bumps it will jar and shake the carrier leading to cracks in the body. Over time the bolts WILL pull through.
