I was referring to it being too tall without the roof rack. If it was the shorter one it would look good, or stock if you will. but with out the roof rack it reminds me of a "wing" that little rice cars have.

The term "rice" and "ricey" doesn't pertain only to aftermarket stuff. A stock ride can be ricey too.
For example I happen to think the stock Ford Focus RS is very ricey. Nice, but ricey.

If you can modify the mounts so it mounts lower and closer to the body, it'd probably look better... if not, it's a NAY for me.

I thought about cutting about 2" off the mounts, but they're hollow, so when I cut them off I won't have anywhere to mount the blade itself.

I would have to say nay, I never did care for the look of the rear deflector on the first gen. But, apparently some people must like it because most of the first gens I see rolling through my town have the rear deflector.

Not so much that they like it, 98% of them came with it from the factory.

A friend of mine has an '87 Blazer with one of those deflectors on it. I have been trying to get him to ditch it, but he likes it. It's a nice truck, too. He just put a set Iroc-z rims on it that look awesome.

If you want to keep it, try painting it white. That may hide a little of the rice.
