400hp 4.3l is it possible how?
Just did some math and gear combos. now this is based on the weight of my gen1 4x4 which is 3077 pounds. At 300hp and a 418 gear it should trip the lights at 13.329. I dont intend to race this but you get an idea of what 300hp can do. Low 13s on the street is pretty darned quick.
OK OK. so 400hp gets you a 12.11 truck. Now, how much of a price tag do you put on 1.2 seconds?

300hp is attainable for well under that kind of money..
for anyone doubting. heres a 98 jimmy, look at the mileage, 165k on a STOCK motor. typhoon turbo setup on 10-12 psi WELL OVER DOUBLE THE STOCK BOOST. he has the proper fuel system and a PROPER tune. the jimmy no doubt make more hp than a stock syclone as it has a higher compression motor. the guy has never dyno'd it, though. it takes a 4300lbs jimmy down the 1/4 in low 14 second.. it's making some power.

the truck is reliable.

Im in total agreement with you on the 300hp. 300 is reasonably obtainable with these motors. Its going beyond that threshold where it starts to get out of bounds a bit. The original poster was talking about 400. BTW is that a full sized Jimmy? Why is it so heavy?
I guess it isnt full sized. I just checked that link. 4400lbs seems really heavy to me.

1. the weakest link in my driveline was the 5 speed. (no more power shifting & 4HI lauches)
2. i needed something with a little more "oomph!" but still be a streetable year round dirver. no point in having anything more, if all you're gonna do is slip 'n slide during the snowy season.
you could be right. I just didnt realize the Gen2's were heavier. I was wrong about mine weighing 3077 though, its 3777lol. weird scratches on the tag from door sag issues (which I have the bushings for and Im doing this weekend). But I had to look it up, I just couldnt believe there was a 1,000 pound difference
300hp is pretty quick, my Camaro has 320hp at the rear wheels, weighs 3400lbs. it should do the quarter in low 13s. and the gears are 3.23s.
Jmooney basically said my thought, yes you can get that much power out of that engine, however if you want more (most people do) then either it wont be streetable, or it'll blow up.
i suggest any V8 be it a Gen I 350 at the smallest, an LT1 or and LS1 because
at the least you can have ~240 horsepower and have plenty of room to grow and mod.

yeah my old chevy silverado was 325 rwhp and she could hit 119mph in the quarter mile 12.8 sec i thought it was fast enough for a street ride
maybe if it was a stripped down RST
maybe if it was a stripped down RST

I really do not see 325rwhp getting a full size chevy getting down the 1/4 in 12.8 seconds.
fully stripped, and around 3400lbs, maybe. Stock weight, no chance in the world you're hitting 12s with that little of power.

absolutely!
my Dart runs through the traps at......11.18 @ 121.8 mph (goes over the scales @ 3320lbs)
