I'm thankin, as long as you maintain a cataletic converter and a decent muffler you should be alright but a 454 swap is kinda questionable

It will fit fine. But youll have to retain all the emission stuff off the Burby. And of course youll need the exhaust manifolds , ect off the Burby as well

Is this going to be a build thread? Or was this simply a question about what you'd need to do the swap?

Aaand ~24hrs later, this doesn't look like it'll be developing into a build thread anytime soon.

You might want to check with the DMV before doing this swap. IIRC from when I lived out there, you can only put in an engine that was available for your vehicle. If the 454 was not an engine option in '88 for a K5 then you cannot swap them out legally for an onroad vehicle.

Things may have changed since I lived out there and had problems getting a '67 Mustang licensed. This was back in the early '90s.

no things haven't changed.the engine had to be available in that vehicle.and it has to be a newer model and have all the smog crap from that vehicle.i was told that they did come with a 454,i should have started here then i wouldn't be stuck with a urban assault vehicle in my back yard.

i do have a 81 blazer i was thinking about making off road only.but would that be a good use for it?
