99 Blazer LS 4dr....v8 swap???
Hello all..this is my first post as I've been plenty informed without having to ask since plenty have asked before. I apologize in advance if its been asked and i missed it but......
My 99 S Blazer runs fine but that doesn't mean i don't need to "fix" it. Although I have the utmost confidence in the 4.3Vortech i'd like to put in a v8. Ive seen an 89 with the drivetrain out of a 99 full size truck. If i recall what i read somewhere it wold be possible to get a 99/00 5.7 and plug and play(the ignition and emmision pc stuff) even use the same TB. I know fabbing some things is required, but making it look like GM was smart enough to do it would be nice. ANY and ALL expirence ideas starting point or info is appreciated from my fellow Blazer owners....oh..I'll put up some pics tonite

search 5.7 2nd gen, lots of info on it
not hard, but not plug and play.
little wiring, mounts, exhaust work cooling modifications, computer re-tune. and the crank position sensor re-calibrated
2wd is easier then 4. 4wd requires custom oil pan unless you use the advance adapter 4.3 mounts which raises motor up a couple inches, but requires a body lift or cowl hood to close the hood.
80's camaro 305 low output manifolds fit the best clearance wise but won't get as much power as conversion headers

if you are looking into performance gains then maybe you should check into the ls series as opposed to the vortec 5.7? the 5.3 ls is said to make more power and with simple planning ahead of time it would be possible to do in 1-2 weekends....... just a thought

Search for Jags That Run... their website is a little confusing but they sell a bunch of parts necessary for a second gen 4x4 v8 swap. They also sell an engine swap book.
