PCMforLess.com Tune for the Rainier

Glad to hear you finally got the program(yesterday). Have fun!

Now all you need is a Hydrogen Cell and the world is yours

Definitely worth the wait. Like I said, the gains are quite noticeable. I made a point to take the same drive with the stock PCM just minutes before I swapped the PCM so I had a better comparison of the two.
Now time will tell if I gain any MPGs out of the whole ordeal.

This will be my next 'large' purchase.

I haven't gained any MPGs out of the swap, that is for sure. I was going to switch back to stock and see how much of a performance difference there was, but just don't have time to mess with it lately.
It does scoot around pretty good now and it did do a very nice job of towing my new camper.

You said you noticed an improvement at part throttle with the torque management removed, but torque management only affects when you're shifting.
Is THAT much power lost when TM retards the timing during shifts?
I'm interested to see the improvement on my Blazer since I had the shift kit and Corvette servo installed.

Think it could be the whole tune and not just the TM dialed back that had an impact? I never said it was all due to the removal of TM. But TM will impact near shift performance.
I still have yet to see clear proof that Blazers have TM. I know my Rainier does.

Ah, gotcha. I misread that part. I'm pretty sure Blazers have TM. When I emailed Wait4Me and asked about TM removal they said it wasn't a problem, if there was no TM I'm sure they would've mentioned it.
Would there be a difference in how the engine sounds when the timing is retarded? It seems to sound a bit different right before a shift when under 3.5k. I might be imagining things though.
Anyway, sorry to hijack. Glad you like your tune. Can't wait till I can afford one (18 and getting ready for college on the 26th).

side note, we bought an 06 colorado that does have TM.. and IF blazers do have it it is EXTREMELY mild compared to how the colorado was.(got it road tuned locally)

I have no time to run the numbers. I am way too busy to mess with it. Heck, I barely have time to reply to other members problems here.
The truck is definitely stronger with the tune than without. I had switched back for a month and then went back to the tuned PCM and there was a substantial difference. No mileage difference though.

I went with the MSD digital 7 from my 5.3 carburated ZR2 after I destroyed the front axle.
Based on boost or vacuum, you can chart timing advance or retard. I had PCM's4less do my 5.3 pcm, but not my 4.3. I set the distributor to the max advance i want, then based on vacuum it adds or pulls timing based on the program loaded into the MSD.
If your boosted or use nitrous this is a great add on to the PCM's for less tuning, but you need to let him know about the MSD.
