4 wheel drive cable

4 wheel drive cable
The 4 wheel drive cable jumps and chatters and moves up and down ,when you turn the wheels . The vacuum actuator was all the way out ,when the cable was un hooked it sucked in real fast ,now we can not move the cable ,would the cable be froze ? This is a 2000 S10 Blazer 4x4 everything is auto on it , it has been sitting for 2 1/2 years .
We are going to take the vacuum actuator cable outtoday ,this is connected to the output shaft tube flange ,any ideals on this ?

RE: 4 wheel drive cable
It is very likely that the cable is froze. Can you move the cable by hand?

No cable does not move

RE: 4 wheel drive cable
That would be my first guess is a froze up cable. If you can get some spray lubricant onto the cable and start to work some movement into it, you should be able to get it freed up. If not, then you will have to replace it.

Could it be a chance that any of the gears could be stripped out ,we do not know how long it was drove with the cable froze,

RE: 4 wheel drive cable
The only thing that frozen cable did was keep the front drive axle spinning the transfer case. No gears to strip. No dammage. Poor gas milage. But no dammage.
