Default 4X4 wont engage

Hi all, just signed in here to see if anyone can help me. I have an 89 s10 blazer 4.3, i know that the title seems old, but i have to ask someone. I have gone as far as putting vise grips on the cable going to the front diff. to see if i could get the front end to lock up. NOTHING!!!. Now I'm wondering should i start taring into the diff or am i lookin to far into this. All i use the blazer for is plowing snow so i dont care if i can get it out of 4 wheel drive, just need it to go back in. thanks for all your help in advance.

Default RE: 4X4 wont engage

If you cannot engage the front diff with a pair of vice grips, the cable is likely froze up. If the cable moves, the next thing you need to do is remove the cover where the cable runs into the passenger side axle tube and try to engage it there.
