Hey gents and ladies.
I am picking up a 94 s10 gmc jimmy 4x4 with the 4.3 vortec tomorrow.
apparently it will go from 4 hi to 4 lo just fine, but will not go back into 2wd.
Any ideas?
Prior owner is stating his mechanic said it was probably the transfer case motor. But he also said they just replaced it a few years back.
Thoughts???

 

Update!!!!

So I drive the 94 gmc jimmy 4 door to 4x4 home today.
1 hour trip to my house.
I drove it in 4wd the whole way home seeing as how it's snowing it wasn't a big deal.
I pull in my drive way and put it in neutral,
Then push and hold 4 lo,....it goes right into 4 lo.
Then I push and hold 4 lo again,.....it went into 2wd (I assume since both lights were now off)
I put it back in drive and move forward then stop and out it in reverse, and it goes reverse! !
turns out the 4wd was just fine.

I feel a little bad because I talked him down from 1300 to 950 due to the 4wd "issue".
But, HE was the one who told me it was stuck in 4wd, so I didn't even think to fiddle with it until I got home.
