98 blazer idler arm always has play

Default 98 blazer idler arm always has play

hey folks. i have a 98 blazer ls that i'm fixing up again. she is a beast!!

i always notice that even with a brand new idler arm that the idler arm still has up and down play when you jack the blazer and move side to side.

any ideas how to fix it? thinking the bump steer shock but i really don't know

What brand of idler arm did you install? The conventional wisdom is the Moog and Proforged are the much better than OEM. There is also a bracket that will allow you to install an idler arm and pivot for a 1-ton truck. very nice!! thank you i never heard of this mid before.

what is the "pivot" you speak about?

For the 1-ton version, there are two parts to the idler arm mechanism, the idler arm itseld and the pivot bracket to which the arm attaches. I believe it is what was installed on the late 90s Chevy trucks. The link should list the part numbers.

Also, I believe there are videos online that show these installed. Here is one:
