Auto Transmission will not shift.

Auto Transmission will not shift.
I have an 85 K5 Blazer and I cannot get it to shift at all from park. I removed the rod from the transmission so that the shifter on the column should move freely and it still does not. It stays locked in park and will not move. Does anyone know how to fix this?
